Use BUSY Bar with your smart home
You can use BUSY Bar in your smart home automations in three ways. It can trigger other smart devices, respond to triggers from other devices, or act as a condition in automations.
BUSY Bar controls smart devices
When you start a focus session on your BUSY Bar, your smart home triggers automations for the smart devices connected to the hub.
For example:
- When you start a focus session, your lights dim and the AC turns on.
- When you start a focus session, your smart speaker pauses music.
- When you start a focus session, the front door locks.
Smart devices control BUSY Bar
When a smart switch or sensor changes state, BUSY Bar starts or stops a focus session. You can set the theme and timer for the session.
For example:
- When a contact sensor on your door closes, BUSY Bar starts a focus session.
- When you press a smart button on your desk, BUSY Bar starts a focus session.
- When you say “Hey Google, start focus”, the voice assistant starts a focus session.
BUSY Bar as a condition for automations
You can use your BUSY Bar’s focus session as a condition for your automations. Set up automations to run only during a focus session or only outside of one.
For example:
- The smart speaker announces the doorbell only when the BUSY status is off.
- Your robot vacuum starts its scheduled cleaning only when the REST status is active.
Automations can scale
BUSY Bar can trigger multiple smart devices, and multiple smart devices can trigger BUSY Bar. It all depends on how you set up your automationsset up your automations.
